graph·ic de·sign
ˈɡrafik dəˈzīn,dēˈzīn/
noun: graphic design
the art or skill of combining text and pictures in advertisements, magazines, or books.
Above is Webster’s definition of graphic design. It seems accurate but what they are forgetting is the added art of conceptualizing ideas to convey information visually. As designers we get the opportunity to creatively layout text, pictures and elements. But we also gain the opportunity to exercise the brain to create a concept to solve a problem. To me, this sounds like the best career ever.
If I am not designing, I can be found:
- Skiing the rockies or just about anywhere the snow falls.
- Cooking. Not baking!
- Getting outside. I love to design but a lot of that design time is spent indoors, so getting out is always needed.
- Attending concerts. Because music will save your soul.
- Gettin’ crafty. Pinterest has that effect on people ya know?
- Trying to train my pup, Moose, the Briard-Doodle
